Do Pheromones Work?

The debate between those who believe pheromones actually play a role in the mating game and those who regard it has fiction is still going strong. Even after 40 years it is still one of the most discussed topics in the world of science and several cologne companies have capitalized on the idea. Several studies and expert opinions have surfaced in a variety of medical journals, debunking the theory on one side and promoting it on the other. Where does it leave the people who don’t have a college degree in medical science? Can nobody give a clear answer to the question “Do pheromones work?” Considering all the opinions, it’s best to break down the facts and see where they lead.

Where did this Theory come from?

The year was 1971 and an undergraduate of Wesley College by the name of Martha McClintock led a study that would spark the heavy debate of pheromones. As a side note, this wasn’t the first study that involved pheromones, but McClintock’s research did manage to capture a lot of attention. The research she was doing might sound familiar, but don’t feel embarrassed if you haven’t heard of it before. It focused on menstrual periods. More specifically, it focused on how menstrual periods synchronized between women that spent a lot of time together.

Everyone can agree that this isn’t the most comfortable topic, but it does get a little more interesting. The research in the 1970’s couldn’t pin-point the exact reason why this synchronization took place, but McClintock proposed the idea that pheromones were involved. The research didn’t end there and a long way down the line something even more uncomfortable was discovered. In 1998 McClintock and her partner, Dr. Kathleen Stern, proved that placing sweat on the lips of a woman could in fact bring about her cycle quicker, or it could delay it. The uncomfortable part has to be where they harvested the sweat. It came from the armpits of another woman. Unfortunately this was all they could prove, because they couldn’t factually state what the sweat contained to cause this result.

How does this Research Affect the Dispute?

In essence this research showed that pheromones can indeed have a long-term effect on issues like menstrual cycles and puberty. However, it couldn’t prove anything in terms of what people really wanted to know, which is whether it can influence human behavior in short bursts of contact. In other words, could it make people more sexually attractive and confident? The research that focused on the latter aspect came back with mixed results and determined, at that point, that pheromones didn’t really have a significant effect on humans.

This didn’t stop enterprises from creating colognes that apparently make the opposite sex more attractive. Their main ingredients were androstadienone and estratetraenol, the former aimed at men and the latter was produced for women. You have to hand it to Dr. McClintock, given her passion to find forward moving evidence, because she didn’t agree with these companies. Her skepticism towards the research of these companies remained evident and she argued that the perfumes acted as a “moderator” instead of a “release”. By this she meant that it changed psychological behavior instead of naturally unlocking a primal instinct.

Is this getting closer to the Answer?

At this point it’s still a 50/50 subject with one expert throwing studies at another expert, who then turns it around and throws it back. However, there are many reputable experts who firmly believe that chemosignals play a big part in communication. Apart from other sub-conscious signals, like for instance body language, there are elements that either attract or reject advances from the opposite sex. The only problem with this theory seems to reside in two specific questions.

If in fact humans generate pheromones, where do they generate it from? (and)

If in fact humans are influenced by these pheromones, how does it reach the brain?

For those who paid attention in biology class another question will probably be forming in the back of your brain. Every animal and plant releases pheromones in order to signal the time for mating, so why don’t humans? This is very true, and pheromones from a moth are able to travel great distances. To be more specific, it can travel for miles. This evidence alone should be sufficient in proving that pheromones can increase sexual tension between two people who might not even like each other to start with.

Unfortunately the counter theory for this also holds some crucial points. Modern living, especially when it involves taking a shower every day, has caused the natural odor of humans to fade away in a manner of speaking. For the majority of animals and plants, sex is a means to an end. Wham, bam thank you mam, now leave me alone. All they want to do is reproduce, whereas humans are more conscious about the decision. Sex has become a form of great pleasure and entertainment as supposed to a fundamental need to cultivate colonies. Ultimately humans have disconnected from nature on a large scale and if pheromones ever did play a part in our development, could it really survive the huge amount of cologne, perfume, spray, shampoo and soaps?

We think we have proven conclusively that the effectiveness of pheromones is greatly enhanced based on your looks and especially your body build…

Conclusion

The best and most truthful answer is to approach the theory of pheromones with an open mind. In scientific terms there is no defining answer to whether it works, so it’s up to personal opinion until the smart people can conclusively figure it out. For curiosity sake, taking a look at whether pheromone perfume actually works, it seems to be getting a lot of reaction. If you can get past the bias funding from pharmaceutical companies that sell them, a lot of people have stated that they get the reaction they want. What should also be considered in these statements is that no singular element contributes to sexual attraction. Unless the people involved are drunk beyond common sense, several factors will determine if you are going to get laid. There is a very good chance that pheromones will help in the process, but it won’t save you when you are doing everything else wrong. Neither should you expect to walk into a room and have the ladies hover around you like flies simply because you enticed their sub-conscious nasal senses. If this happens then get your wallet ready for a “per-hour” rating.

Confessions of an Ass-Man

What can I say? I’m an ass-man. This isn’t to say that I don’t like many other features of the female anatomy. There is nothing wrong with a perky pair of perfectly proportioned breasts, or a flat and curvy stomach. I’m not blind to well-toned legs, slender arms and a slightly visible spine that runs down an arrow straight back. No sir, I like all these things, but my weakness will always remain those cheeks that can make the most horrible jeans look like Aphrodite made them herself.

I guess it became my favorite section while I was still in school. I remember getting my first “big boy” poster of Pamela Anderson pushing out her hips while crawling on the beach in a tiny two-piece gold bikini. It was a present from an older cousin and needless to say my mother preferred to avoid the wall it was pasted on. I was able to stare at that ass for hours on end, lost in its form. I’ll be lying if I said I didn’t focus on the other parts as well, but nothing really drew my attention like her ass did.

More posters inevitably followed, which I bought myself. The variety of women grew and names like Cindy Crawford and Sandra Bullock pops into mind as I take the road down memory lane. I want to say my descent into this fetish was slow, but it wasn’t. Girls in my class, women on the street, in the movies, all of their lower backs were tentatively inspected by my keen eyes. At some point I lost control and didn’t pay attention at how obvious my staring had become.

As my curiosity to see more variations of lower backs grew, I also started to wonder why I loved them so much. In light of this I started to do some research and unfortunately there isn’t any solid evidence that can determine why the attraction is to strong. Only speculations like “it represents fertility” are suggested, but they admit it’s a long shot. Ultimately it comes down to personal taste.

In the end I just decided to accept it, nothing will get my blood boiling the way a pretty little ass does. I particularly love it when girls wear tight hot pants and just a little piece of the bottom is exposed. If I have to explain the reason for my choice, it has to be attitude. It represents a certain personality and this is why girls use their lower backs to make dancing sexy. Everything else they shake around is simply just a build-up to placing more focus on the flawless ass.

Everyone has their thing and I respect this, but the ass balances the body and without it no woman will be complete. It’s not that big of a deal when her breasts are a little bit small or the shoulders a little thin, as long as her ass proudly stretches her clothes so tightly around her hips it makes you think of unspeakable actions. Is there anybody who can argue that an ass makes every sexual position worthwhile? I didn’t think so.

Ashley Jones Mini Flashback

Ashley Jones is not just a smoking hot actress but a fashionable lady as well! The “True Blood” actress has worn quite the sexy array of dresses and mini skirts over the years that show off her long, toned stems. Ashley is no shrinking violet when it comes to wearing colorful and patterned dresses and skirts with different textures and styles. The former star of “The Young And The Restless” seems to have inherited her flair for the dramatic and the sexy and channeled it into her wardrobe. We have to say, we like the results.

Ashley lit up the room in a bold fluorescent mini dress at the 100th Anniversary Celebration of the grand Beverly Hills Hotel in (where else?) Beverly Hills on June 16, 2012. Not many could pull off this shade of incandescent flamingo pink, but Ashley wore the shining strapless mini dress perfectly. She paired it with silver heels that were at least three inches and really showed off her flawless gams. We like the dress on its own, but the towering pumps really made Ashley look fearlessly sexy.

Ashley topped herself even more with a gold number that she wore to the US Weekly Hot Hollywood Party at Drai’s in Hollywood on April 23, 2010. The sizzling actress paired a glitzy gold mini dress with a white blazer for a look that was mature, stylish, and totally hot. The bronze pumps she paired with the outfit gave just the right amount of tone to her slim and sexy legs.

Ashley shone again in a silvery mini dress that came up mid-thigh at the US Weekly Hot Hollywood Style party on November 18, 2009 at Voyeur in West Hollywood. The look is a little dated now, but those red toes in silver peep toe pumps will never go out of style.

The actress showed off some sexy legs once more in a pink dress with gilded detail at the 5th Annual Pink Party at La Cachette Bistro in Santa Monica on September 12, 2009. We love her legs in those silver gladiator heels! Wow.

Ashley looked smoking hot once again in a aquamarine dress belted with nude bandage heels on April 22, 2009 at the US Weekly Hot Hollywood Party. The actress was glowing and the perfection of muscle tone in her legs was absolutely undeniable. We liked!

Eva La Rue is a hot American actress and model. Born December 27, 1966 and raised in Long Beach, California, Eva is of hot blooded Scottish, French, Puerto Rican and Dutch descent and belongs to the Bahá’í Faith. She is known for starring in the hit CBS television series “CSI: Miami” in which she plays Detective Natalia Boa Vista, part of the Police Department of Miami-Dade.

Eva first began acting when she was just six years old. She went on to become a beauty queen in her teen years. We could totally see that. Eva won the Miss California Empire title in 1984 at the Irvine state pageant. A year later she graduated from Norco High School and began to start modeling. The Judith Fontaine Agency signed her as a model and Eva began to model pieces for the extremely sexy Frederick’s of Hollywood (which we think was a smart choice on Frederick’s part).

Eva La Rue also played the role of Doctor Maria Santos Grey on the soap “All My Children” where she was part of the power couple Edmund and Maria. She played the part from 1993 to 1997 and then once more from 2002 to 2005. Eva received a nomination for a Daytime Emmy for “Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series” and then actually received a nomination later for “Outstanding Original Song” for composing the song “Dance Again With You” which was used for the characters Edmund and Maria in 2003. Eva played Doctor Maria one more time in 2010 for the 40th anniversary of “All My Children” and once more in July and September 2011 as a guest star for the series end.

Eva married actor John O’hurley from 1992 to 1994 and then married “All My Children” star John Callahan from 1996 to 2005. La Rue has said that when she was six months pregnant with her daughter Kaya McKenna Callahan she was supposed to be on a flight that turned out to be one of the planes that went into the Twin Towers on 9/11. La Rue changed her flight so she could sleep in the night before. She gave birth to her daughter on December 6, 2001.

Eva has been in different television movies in addition to soap operas. She played Annette Funicello in a biography movie of the Mouseketeer and also played Princess Serena in an adaptation of “Remembrance” by Danielle Steel.

In 2005 Eva has also starred on ‘George Lopez” as George’s long lost sister and began playing the part of Natalia Boa Vista on the hit show “CSI: Miami” that same year. She became a full time cast member in season 5 and a true story involving her sister Nika being one of several women photographed by serial killer William Richard Bradford was used in one of the episodes.

Eva went on to marry Joe Cappucio on June 26, 2010. She starred in a music video with her daughter for the song “Armed” by Devon Gundry and played Agent Tanya Mays’ on “Criminal Minds”.

One thing we know for sure is that Eva La Rue has great legs. Eva flaunted sexy stems that were tanned and toned to perfection when she attended the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles.
